Week 5

»  In what ways does your employer motivate employees to work harder or more effectively? My boss tries to keep a light atmosphere as well as checking in with us individually to make sure we aren't overwhelmed with work. I work with a lot of other students so Brian likes to check in and make sure that the work we do for Parklife doesn't get in the way of classes which I really appreciate. Work feels evenly distributed but shifting pieces around is welcomed and encouraged so that we maintain a good work ethic. » Which strategies are particularly helpful in motivating people? I think the most effective method is keeping a light environment that doesn't cause too much stress while still maintaining deadlines. » What strategies might you suggest to improve morale and productivity? Overall i'm really happy with the way that productivity is encouraged, but i think more communication between the writing and design team will help with some ...

Week 4

»   What marketing strategies does your company make use of? As a marketing company, we market ourselves in similar ways to our clients through social media, newsletters, and other forms of communication. »   Do you feel these are effective? How could they be made more effective? Currently, our marketing is in a weird state as we are rebranding everything so these tactics aren't particularly effective right now. We are planning on redoing the way we use social media as a branding tactic to include more of our client facing work, rather than just advertising the services we offer. Some of our companies colleagues said that our posts leaned to being too "sales-y" so we are working towards fixing that. This week was lighter as we are in the process of finishing up a lot of projects that we started towards the start of the year, so I wasn't needed too much. I primarily focused on finia...

Week 3 Post

» Who at your workplace do you particularly admire or look up to? What qualities does this individual exhibit that you appreciate or aspire to? Carly is the senior graphic designer at Parklife and is someone I work closely with so as of now, she is who I look up to and look to for advice on design work and many other things. She's a super talented designer and has great ideas that make my work better overall. Carly manages a lot of different moving parts at once which is really difficult to do with all the clients, but she's still always willing to help and give advice whenever she can. This week, I focused more on video editing and some voiceover work for a parking company called Parkhub. The video I did voice recording for will be shown off at a trade show along with a lot of the design work I did, which is very exciting since it will help the client get more business as a result. Otherwise, this week was light with only a couple other pieces for clients like Harmony NC LGBT ...

Week 2 Post

This week I focused mainly on video editing for a project with the Town of Hillsborough NC to preserve the history of the area, as well as branding a table booth for a company called Parkhub to use at trade shows. Working on the Town of Hillsborough videos has been one of my first deep dives into Adobe Premier, and it wouldn't be my favorite program to work in, though I'm glad I can get experience on it. Though a lot of the basic tools are similar to other Adobe programs, I find the tools and vast array of editing and effects somewhat daunting, so the learning curve has been steep. The Parkhub trade show branding has been a lot closer to what I would normally do, primarily working in Illustrator and going back and forth with my coworkers to create the best possible collateral. Parkhub's branding includes a lot of color, so making something visually interesting and eye catching was a nice deviation from some of the more mundane video editing side.  Highlights: working on as...
