Week 8

This week mostly consisted of working on collateral materials for Parkhub, as well as more collateral work for Harmony NC and some continuation of projects from the week prior. I wanted to get a start on editing the Parklife website but client work/requests kept coming in throughout the week so I wasn't able to get as much done as I would've liked. With being on spring break, I felt like I had a lot more energy to focus on work instead of splitting my time and brainpower between school and work and I'm looking forward to when this is my main focus and the design that will come from it.

» What role do the designers at your site play in the development of concepts and strategies for its clients/customers?

Ultimately, the role we have depends a lot on the needs of the clients and their level of trust. One of our clients March To The Polls based in Dallas Texas usually gives us a LOT of creative freedom in everything from the design of their stationary to the overall logo rebrand and design of their website, whereas other clients feel the need to micromanage. Clients who tend to micromanage are not the ones we try and maintain long-term, and my boss is incredible about asking for our feedback in this regard.

» Based on your experience on the job so far, have you determined whether this field is right for you? Why or why not?

I absolutely love doing design work and getting experience in the corporate/marketing world has been incredibly helpful in a lot of ways, but I don't think I would want to stay on the marketing side forever. I've gotten a lot of opportunities to do a HUGE variety of different work but long term I would like some more experience with creating brand identities from scratch and being able to have a lot of creative input. That being said, I really love working at Parklife and plan to stay as long as the team will have me!
